Welcome back to UCL; we hope that your study abroad year has been a very valuable experience- fun and challenging in equal measure! Whether you have spent the Summer travelling at the end of your placement, working or just catching up with friends and family at home, here are some tips for getting yourself prepared for your final year back in London.

Life Admin

There are a few really important admin tasks to complete before returning for final year. Don’t forget to re-enrol (look out for an email over the Summer, inviting you to do this) and ensure that you get in touch with your department for information on enrolling on to Final Year modules. Dig out your UCL ID card and ensure that your UCL password hasn’t expired before term begins. If you have any questions about results from your year abroad, please direct these to your departmental Study Abroad Tutor.

Telling your story

Having just returned from your year abroad, we are looking to you as our most well-informed tour guides. The Study Abroad Fair is a fantastic opportunity for you to share your experiences with students preparing to apply for their own Study Abroad adventure. Look out for an email invitation from the Study Abroad Team in September, inviting you to come along to promote your host institution to a captive student audience.. you’ll even get an Amazon voucher for your time!

Making the most of your new skills

With your study abroad experiences fresh in your mind (and before you get stuck in to final year!) we would encourage you to take some time to consider how you can use your study abroad experiences to sell yourself in your CV and future job interviews. The UCL Careers Service offers drop-in sessions with an experiences Careers Advisor who can help you think about the personal and professional skills you have gained abroad that’ll help your CV stand out.
