UCL Discovery Fortnight takes place from Monday 31 October - Friday 11 November. Continue your induction at UCL by discovering something new, exploring sustainability at UCL, learning a skill and finding new opportunities.

The UCL Introductory Programme is designed to help you learn about the university’s past, present, and future, as well as introduce you to some UCL places and people. You’ll be engaging with new ideas and ways of thinking to help prepare you for your studies.

Introducing Library Skills for undergraduates

In this live online session, we will outline the library skills you will need to develop throughout your time at university and will direct you to guidance, training and support available for you to develop these skills

Paint your way to a sustainable future
Live Workshop

This event is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in sustainability to meet other like-minded students and the Sustainability Officer, whilst painting banners that you can use at any climate protest you go to, or even for your room!
This is a great opportunity to meet your Sustainability Officer, discuss the sustainability goals the Students' Union are adopting as well as how you can be part of making UCL more sustainable.

Zero Food Waste
Volunteering opportunity

Zero Food Waste is a project led by UCL students tackling food waste on campus. You can join the team of volunteers redistributing excess food from campus outlets to local charities. Resilience through Growth Mindset
Live Workshop

Learn how to build resilience through a growth mindset in this 60 minute workshop led by Bartlett Student Adviser Kristina Labanauskaite.

Kristina Labanauskaite (Student Adviser, UCL SSW) will explore the limitations of a fixed mindset and how growth mindset, on the other hand, can help you face challenging situations and see an opportunity in every setback.

This session seeks to provide staff and students with takeaway practices that lead to a growth mind-set and building a healthy relationship with our mistakes and failures.

Discover UCL's Nature 'Nearby Nature'

Find your Nearby Nature and contribute to UCL's new map! 
Nearby Nature is UCL's new map which aims to encourage the UCL community to discover nature in and around UCL. You can share the location and photos of your favourite nature spots on google maps for others to enjoy (and find others' hidden nature gems!). 

This Discovery week we're challenging you to find new locations to add to our Nearby Nature map, share photos and visit as many spots on the map as possible. 

1.    Share your favourite ‘nearby nature spots’ with the UCL community by submitting this form to contribute to the Nearby Nature Map. 
2.    Take a break and discover UCL’s Nearby Nature spots on this online map as a way to connect with nature, improve your mental wellbeing and explore new parts of campus!

Discover askUCL
Live Online Masterclass

askUCL is an information hub designed to streamline the way UCL handles your UCL-related questions and queries. With a large bank of FAQs available and staff on hand to help with your enquiry, you will have your questions answered in no time. 

From Thursday the 9th of November until Tuesday the 13th of December, you are invited to attend an askUCL Masterclass session through MS teams that students can sign up to and attend, in these sessions we will show students how to use the askUCL self-help centre and student enquiry system, to find quick answers to your questions about your studies and how to contact UCL’s support services.
