Kristy Ironside is a social and
economic historian of the Soviet Union, and currently Lecturer in Russian, East
European and Eurasian History at the University of Manchester.
Her book in progress, The Worker’s Ruble: Money and the Pursuit of Communist Prosperity in the Postwar Soviet Union, 1945-1964, looks at post-war Soviet society’s intertwined attempts to recover from the war’s damage and move toward a promised state of abundance.
