Getting Started

IOE Welcome Team is an initiative designed to support new IOE students across all programmes. The objective is to help new students to settle in, bond with their classmates within their first few weeks at IOE, and receive recommendations on how they can get the most out of their student experience.

IOE Welcome Team programme starts in August and ends in October (this includes induction). As an IOE Welcome Team member, you will need to be available for up to 16 hours a week over a 3 week period in September and October plus several days in August to go through your training. You will start with a comprehensive induction which will provide you with skills and knowledge required for the role. The assignment is likely to start in the beginning of September, but you will be communicated to once you express your interest.

We start recruiting in early June and regularly look for 12 members for IOE Welcome Team across all programmes at the IOE. Throughout your assignments, you will be paired up with another team member, so you don’t feel alone. We also want to create a sense of community as you lead your group of students. All mentors will be paid for their work.

  • You will need to be based in London and available to work on campus.
  • You have a valid visa to be able to work.
  • You will need to be available for up to 16 hours per week throughout September and first part of October. You would also be required to be available a few days in August for your induction training.

What will the role involve?

  • With your fellow team members you will be leading guided tours across UCL campus and IOE building.
  • You will will be involved in leading social/cultural activities. These maybe online as well as in person.
  • Within each activity you will take responsibility for creating opportunities for participants to bond with other students.
