Update: 27 July 2020
Library Chat Service
We are now running a Library Chat Service from 13:00 - 16:00, Monday - Friday. If you would like to chat to a member of Library Staff during these times please visit our Library Help webpage and fill in the box under 'Contact Us' to begin your chat.
Click and Collect Service for Main and Science Library books
A Click and Collect Service is available for books held at the Main and Science Libraries. The Service is for UCL staff and postgraduate students. Books can be requested via Explore and collected from the Portico door at the Main Library. Further information can be found on our Click and Collect webpage.
Workspace for staff and postgraduate students available in the Student Centre
The Student Centre has reopened as part of a limited pilot for UCL staff and postgraduate students who are unable to work from home in line with Government guidance.
Staff and postgraduate students will need to book a place through Eventbrite.
To access electronic books, articles and databases, please always use Explore. Some electronic resources can only be accessed through this route. Where a UCL login is required, this will be presented when you follow the link from Explore. For more help, visit the E-resources help page.
All UCL libraries are closed until further notice. Please note that we are not accepting any new library membership applications at this time. We will continue to offer online support during our staffed hours of operation.
Library support for learning, teaching and research during COVID-19
Please see our Library essentials for information on accessing electronic books, articles and databases, Library skills training, ReadingLists @UCL and research support.
All book loans have been extended until Thursday 01 October 2020 except for those students who finish this summer where books will be due at the end of their course. If you cannot return books at the end of your course please do so when you can, you will not be penalised for late return. Books can be returned in person 24 hours a day to the Front Gate Lodge in Gower Street (opposite the Cruciform Building) or by post to our address listed on our contact page. All fines under £20 will be waived when normal Library services resume.
Whilst our library sites are closed, there is a loan laptop scheme in place to assist students that may not have access to their own computer. There is limited stock availability and we will assign laptops on a first come, first served basis. Full details on how to apply are on laptop loans web page.
Please see information about support for staff of our partner NHS Trusts including your access to electronic resources, OpenAthens and specialist enquiry services.
