Welcome Activities 2023

BRP Card Collection

Your BRP card is essential. You will receive an email once you are able to collect your BRP. 

You must bring your passport to collect your BRP card (no photocopies or scans).

Bloomsbury Campus: Monday 11 September - Friday 13 October 2023, 09:00 - 17:00, Japanese Garden Room.

Service will be running on Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 September, 10:00 - 16:00 and on Tuesday 26 September, service will be extended to the Twilight Hour, until 18:00.

Campus Tours

Take a tour of our Bloomsbury campus led by one of our Student Welcome Ambassadors. Tours will run daily throughout Welcome. There's no need to book, just turn up! 

Bloomsbury campus: Monday 18 September to Friday 6 October 2023, 10:00 to 16:00.

Campus tours start by the 'Campus Tour' flags in the Main Quad and will be run 3 times an hour.

Support Services Fair

The Support Services Fair gives you a chance to talk to various teams at UCL who can help develop a skill, start a business, register to vote, find a job, access mental or physical health support etc.

Bloomsbury Campus: Monday 25 - Wednesday 27 September, 10:30 - 15:00 in the North Cloisters. 

UCL East Campus: Friday 29 September, 10:30 - 15:00 on the Second Floor Atrium, Marshgate Building.

Active Bystander Workshops

The Students' Union Active Bystander Programme aims to train UCL students to recognise and challenge problematic behaviours, such as bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct.

If you haven't done so already, please complete the Active Bystander Online Module at your earliest convenience, then you'll be able to join our live workshop where we'll equip you with practical skills and build on your knowledge gained in the module.

Students in UCL Accommodation should be aware that essential information and a bi-weekly newsletter will be sent to their UCL email address throughout the year.

Have you thought of learning...? Languages of the wider world

Are you doing a degree at UCL and considering taking a language as an elective module? Are you doing a language degree and want to know more about some of the 'lesser-taught' languages we teach at UCL? Or do you just want to come along and celebrate the European Day of Languages (26 September) by learning more about some of the languages we teach?

Then drop by UCL Art Museum and meet some of our tutors to find out how it's like to study languages such as Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, a Scandinavian language or Latin and Ancient Greek at UCL.

You will also have a chance to browse the UCL Art Museum language showcase on the day it officially reopens: Not Just Words: Learning Languages Through Art And Objects.

Student Visa Information Sessions

For students who are applying for visas from within the UK and require assistance, you can book a Student Visa Information Session with one of our advisers:

Student Visa Information Session for individuals;

Students Visa Information Sessions for students with dependents.

ID Card Collection

Your ID card is essential. Once you are fully enrolled you will be able to collect your ID card following the instructions in your enrolment confirmation email. 
You must bring a physical form (no photocopies or scans) of identification to collect your ID card. e.g. passport, BRP card, driving licence (if you are from the UK).

Bloomsbury Campus: Monday 18 - Friday 29 September, 09:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 -17:00 in the JBR (Jeremy Bentham Room). 

Service will be running on Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 September, 10:00 - 16:00 and on Tuesday 26 September, service will be extended to the Twilight Hour, until 18:00.

UCL East Campus: Monday 25 - Friday 29 September, 09:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 16:45 in the Community Engagement Room, Ground Floor, Marshgate Building.

Help Desks

Our Help Desks are here to support you with any problems in your first few days. e.g. IT support, enrolment issues, visa and immigration issues or fees issues.

Petrie Museum: Cultural Comedy Tours

The Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology invites new and returning students to explore the museum with Cultural Comedy Tours, combining the most sensational comedians on the circuit with favourite museums, art galleries and heritage sites across the UK.

Join comedy writer and stand-up performer Zahra Barri for a unique tour of the Petrie Museum's collection of objects and artefacts from ancient Egypt and Sudan.

This free event is open to all UCL students. Booking is required.

Petrie Museum: Origami Gifts Workshop

Join science-based artist Dr. Lizzie Burns for a lunchtime crafts workshop at the Petrie Museum as part of UCL's International Students Week. Learn the Japanese craft of origami and make a crane, a symbol for good fortune and longevity.

The workshop celebrates the tradition of sharing and gifting, recognising the importance of cross-cultural relationships.

This free event is open to all (new and returning) UCL students. Booking is required.

International Student Q&A Talks

The International Student Q&A Talks gives new international students the chance to hear from current international UCL students about their experiences as well as ask them questions. 

You'll be in a room with loads of other new international students, all at your level of study (undergraduate, postgraduate taught and affiliate/exchange) and you can get 100% honest answers from current international UCL students who have been through the exact same experiences you have.

The International Student Q&A Talks will be running from 18/09/2023 to 22/09/2023 on the Bloomsbury campus and on 29/09/2023 at the UCL East campus.

Bloomsbury campus: Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 September, 14:30 - 15:30, Cruciform B304 Lecture Theatre 1.

UCL East Campus: Friday 29 September, 14:30 - 15:30, Collaborative Lecture Theatre, Marshgate Building.

International Student Safety Seminars

UCL and the Metropolitan Police run International Student Safety Seminars for new international students to help keep students safe during their time at UCL and in London.

The International Student Safety Seminar will be running from 18/09/2023 to 22/09/2023 on the Bloomsbury campus and on 29/09/2023 at the UCL East campus.

International Student Affiliate Mixers

Are you an affiliate/exchange student coming to UCL in September 2023? If so, then come along to our International Student Affiliate Mixers on 22/09/2023 and 23/09/2023 and meet all your fellow affiliates!

Remember, these mixers are only for affiliate/exchange students which means your home university is in other country and you've come to study at UCL for 1 term, 2 terms or the full academic year.

Bloomsbury campus: Friday 22 and Saturday 23 September 2023, 17:00 to 19:00, Elvin Hall, Institute of Education (IOE).

International Student Library Seminars

The libraries at UCL will play an incredibly important part in you time at UCL and the better your understand how you can take advantage of all its resources, the better your academic at UCL will be.

Our International Student Library Seminars give you the basics as well as tips on things like where the best study spaces are.

International Student Religion + Faith Seminar

We understand that the culture around religion and belief in the UK may be very different from your home and this can be confusing or even daunting.

Although UCL is a secular university which means it has no religious affiliation, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning and working environment where students and staff of all religions, and none, can thrive. 

The International Student Religion + Faith Seminar gives you a chance to find out more about religion in London and how you can practice your faith.
