UCL is a secular institution which upholds a deep-seated commitment to equality and diversity, and which has no religious affiliation and does not endorse any particular denomination or faith. However, UCL is also committed to providing an inclusive learning and working environment where students and staff of all religions, and none, can thrive.

As a new international student, this may be your first time in London and the UK, and it may even be your first time leaving your home country! We understand that the culture around religion and belief in the UK may be very different from your home and this can be confusing or even daunting. In this seminar we hope to give you some resources to navigate religion and belief while you are studying here, which may include fostering and exploring your own faith identity.

In this seminar, we will discuss the following topics:

  • "That Godless institution on Gower Street" (UCL);
  • Religious trends in the UK;
  • Religion, Belief, and Secularism;
  • Support and activities at UCL;
  • Faith Communities in London;
  • "Can I talk about religion and belief?"

You will have the chance to participate in polls and ask questions anonymously with your phones throughout the presentation to ensure you get the most from this seminar.
