International students travelling home for the winter break
2 December 2020
If you are planning on leaving the UK and travelling abroad over the winter break, please read the following article for information and advice.
We know that some of our international students will be planning to leave the UK and travel home over the winter break this year.
The UK Government is asking that students return home once the national restrictions have been lifted, in a “student travel window” between 3-9 December.
We do however understand that this is not always going to be possible for students, especially those travelling abroad, so if you plan on leaving the UK after 9 December 2020, you are allowed to do so.
It is important that you carefully check the rules and regulations of the country you will be travelling to, to ensure that you comply. This potentially includes having to provide a negative COVID-19 test result. For more information regarding UCL’s COVID-19 advice and support, please visit the UCL COVID website.
Please remember that if you have tested positive for COVID-19, are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or need to self-isolate, you need to inform UCL using Connect to Protect. If you have received a positive test, you may be also be contacted by the NHS Track and Trace programme.
If you have any questions regarding traveling abroad over the winter period, please contact International Student Support via askUCL and if you want to find out more about the wellbeing support available to you, please visit the UCL Student Support and Wellbeing webpages
