New student funding advice

Once you have completed pre-enrolment, UCL Student Funding Advisors can help with a range of advice. You can make appointments via askUCL.

Undergraduate Students  

UCL Undergraduate Bursary 

The UCL undergraduate bursary scheme is assessed on household income and residency status. The scheme is open to Home students with an annual household income of £42,875 or less.  

Student Finance maintenance loan 

If you have been approved for a maintenance loan, the first payment will usually be made at the start of term. To receive the maintenance loan, you must be fully enrolled (and not ‘Time-Limited Enrolled’). Find out more information about receiving Student Finance loans

Teacher Training Funding  

Payments for your teacher training bursary/scholarship are paid by bank transfer into your account. Find out more information regarding bursary payments.

Graduate Taught Students  

The central UCL scholarship application process has now closed. 

The UK government offers Postgraduate Master’s Loans to Home students. Our External Funding page has further information on external sources of funding. The PIN number to access the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding is 3098. 

If you have been approved for a Master’s Loan, the first instalment will be paid to you 3-5 days after you become enrolled. Find out more information about receiving Student Finance loans 


Graduate Researchers  

If you receive a stipend paid via UCL, you will receive your stipend by bank transfer into your bank account. This usually happens within 10 days of you becoming fully enrolled. Find out more information about stipend payments and how to provide your bank details.  If you have been approved for a Doctoral Loan, the first instalment will be paid to you 3-5 days after you become enrolled. Disabled Students  

If you are a disabled student, you may be eligible for additional funding. You can read information about funding for disability support on the Student Support and Wellbeing Services pages. It has information for all student groups including international and postgraduate students.
