This guidance is for undergraduate and postgraduate taught students who want to change their programme of study or their modules
- Change your programme of study
- Deadlines for changing your programme of study
- Applying for a change of programme
- Changes to your modules
If you wish to transfer from one UCL degree programme to another, you must first discuss this with your personal tutor, postgraduate tutor or supervisor in your department. The department will discuss your options with you and help you make the right decision.
UCL cannot guarantee that you will be able to transfer between degrees. You must be able to satisfy the entrance requirements for your proposed new degree programme, a place must be available on it and it must be practical for you to complete the new degree programme satisfactorily.
You will not be eligible for consideration for the award of a degree until you have completed the prescribed period of study required and satisfied the examiners in the requisite number of modules/credits for your new degree programme as specified in the UCL Academic Manual.
You must have sufficient funding to complete your new programme of study.
Students with a Tier 4 visa
UCL is required to report any significant changes in your studies to UKVI. If any of the following are applicable your Tier 4 visa may be affected and you should seek guidance from the Student Immigration Compliance Team:
- a change in programme at UCL
- a change in study location
- a change in the length of your programme (both shorter or longer)
- you will complete a work placement
The usual deadline for change of degree programme during the academic session is the end of October each year (for students registering in September, with a later date for students registering in January) to be compatible with module selection deadlines. Later transfers may be possible, where the transfer does not affect module selections.
To change your programme you must login to your Portico account and complete the online application under the 'C2RS Home' menu.
If you want to change any of your individual modules please refer to the Module registration page for guidance.
