Undergraduate Students
Key Dates:
- The UCL Accommodation portal opens in March.
- The deadline for undergraduates to apply to UCL Accommodation is 10 June.
- As soon as you’re accepted into UCL, you can apply for UCL Accommodation (if you meet the eligibility criteria).
- The demand for UCL Accommodation is high, so we recommend that you get your application in as early as possible in the year you are due to begin your studies at UCL.
*If you are starting UCL in January, you can apply for UCL Accommodation as soon as you receive your offer letter and have a Student Number.
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate students will be prioritised a place in UCL accommodation if they are:
- A full-time single first year undergraduate student who chose UCL as their firm choice by 10 June.
- Have submitted their UCL Accommodation application by 10 June.
And either
- Have not previously lived or studied in Greater London at a Higher Education Institution (University), or
- Are attending UCL for a full academic year on Junior Year Abroad (JYA), Erasmus or Exchange programmes.
UCL also prioritises accommodation for all undergraduate applicants that are:
- Under 18 years old at the start of their course.
- Students with a disability or those with a health condition, injury or illness (supporting evidence required).
- Care experienced.
- Estranged students.

Graduate students
This information is for International Postgraduate Researchers and Postgraduate Taught Students.

- As soon as you’re accepted into UCL, you can apply for UCL Accommodation (if you meet the eligibility criteria).
- The demand for UCL Accommodation is high, so we recommend that you get your application in as early as possible in the year you are due to begin your studies at UCL

Eligibility Criteria

- A single, first year international postgraduate student with an accepted offer to study for a full-time Masters’ programme, a Postgraduate Diploma, Initial Teacher Education (ITE) PGCE or a MPhil/PhD at UCL by 30 June.
- Have not previously lived or studied in Greater London at a Higher Education Institution (University).
- Have submitted their accommodation application by 30 June.

I’m not eligible for UCL Accommodation/I want private accommodation
If you’re not eligible for UCL Accommodation, or would prefer private accommodation, UCL can support you. UCL Accommodation have created an Alternative Accommodation guide which is updated regularly.
It provides information on:
- Advice on private rentals.
- Links to resources, including Students’ Union UCL and University of London Housing Services
- Links to providers of private accommodation.
- Information on family and couples’ accommodation.
- Advice on avoiding housing scams.

I am a student with Additional Requirements
If you have a health issue or additional needs, UCL Accommodation can help. They can provide rooms that meet your requirements. These are available to any student at UCL including postgraduate students and second or third-year students. It also includes care experienced, estranged, and at risk of being homeless students.
Adjustments to accommodation can include, but are not limited to:
- 365-day accommodation.
- A hall that has an accessible route to campus.
- Ensuite rooms.
- Individual kitchen.
- Adapted desks or beds.
How to apply
Apply via the UCL Accommodation portal. You must submit evidence in the ‘Additional Requirement’ section. We recommend contacting the UCL Accommodation Office before applying for advice.
