If you have any questions about BRP collection, please contact the Student Immigration Compliance Team via AskUCL .

If your 90-day entry clearance vignette expires before you receive your BRP

In the event that you have arrived in the UK and have not received your BRP before your entry clearance vignette expires, please be reassured that this will not affect your right to remain in the UK or continue your studies at UCL.

If you need to travel urgently

You are not encouraged to travel/leave the UK without your BRP card, however if you choose to you will need to make an application to apply for a single entry vignette in order to return to the UK. The fee for this is £154 and you can apply here.

This does not affect the production or validity of your BRP card and any existing grant of leave. However, please note that it will not be possible for UKVI to refund the visa fee or reimburse any other costs associated with the application.

BRP expiry date of 31 December 2024

If you have received a BRP with an expiry date of 31 December 2024, but you know your leave has been granted beyond this date, you do not need to report this as an error. If you are unsure about your visa expiry date, please check the letter or email you received when your visa was granted. This should confirm the start and end date of your visa. If your visa end date is after the expiry date on your BRP, the remainder of your immigration status that is not covered by your BRP will be evidenced as digital immigration status.

Throughout 2024, the government will gradually replace physical immigration documents with digital proof of immigration status. Once you are invited by the Home Office to create a UKVI account or take any other action to transfer your current visa to a digital immigration status, you must take the steps outlined in the email from the UKVI at your earliest convenience. Only BRP holders who receive an email invitation need to take action at this stage.

If you have not yet been contacted by the Home Officeyou do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected. Please just await further information and refer to the UKVI’s eVisa webpage for regular updates.
