Global student assistance programme

Free, confidential support is available anytime, any day whilst you're abroad for a variety of professional or personal matters.

What is the Global Student Assistance Programme?

From time to time, everyone experiences situations that affect their general wellbeing. In recognition of this, UCL is pleased to introduce the Global Student Assistance Programme, designed to help all of our Study Abroad students complete their time abroad successfully and allow them to meet their responsibilities both professionally and personally. It is also available to any other students who may be overseas, such as our international students who are studying remotely.

Through the Global Student Assistance Programme you can obtain practical information, resources and sign-posting to other services, as well as short-term counselling on a variety of topics. Information can be provided over the phone, via email, or by post. Short-term phone counselling, if appropriate, is also offered at a time convenient to you.

The Global Student Assistance Programme is:

  • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. At any time of the day or night, weekends, and over holidays, you will be able to speak with one of our professionals.
  • Free. The service is paid for by UCL.
  • Confidential. Although UCL will receive statistics on the number of people using the service and the issues that were raised, no personal, identifying information will be disclosed. No one at UCL will know that you have called, unless you choose to disclose this.
  • An independent, impartial source of support. Your Global Student Assistance Programme is completely independent and does not represent any organisation, including UCL.
