CCTU Visual Identity Guidelines
There are some guidelines on how to use each element and we ask you to adhere to these to ensure consistency across the Unit.
CCTU Banner
The most important visual element of the CCTU brand is the banner. Our visual identity is unusual because we do not use a traditional logo. The banner must appear, unaltered and fully legible, on all UCL communications originating from the Unit.
Our banner uses the standard UCL banner, where the strapline has been changed to the name of our Unit.
We observe the guidelines issued by the UCL Communications & Marketing team and we would expect you to follow these when using the CCTU banner. Do not change the colour of the banner (see more in Colour). You should never use the logo and the banner at the same time.
Never provide or publish a word version of the banner to an external audience - please always convert to PDF.
Please feel free to use the following materials for your communications:
- A4 Word banner (mid green)
You should only use the banner on the first page.
This banner should be used alternatively when a document is going to be printed in high volumes, or in black and white only.- Power Point template
If you have any queries regarding the use of any of these materials, please contact the Unit Administration Team (cctu-enquiries@ucl.ac.uk).
CCTU Logo
When CCTU is working in partnership with other organisations, or when it's impossible to use the banner, we use the logo.
You can add it to documents, presentations, reports, etc. where using the Unit banner would be inappropriate. Do not change the colour or the aspect of the logo (see more in Colour). You should never use the logo and the banner at the same time.
Please feel free to use the following materials for your communications:
- Standard logo (transparent)
This is our main logo and should always be used in accordance with the UCL Logo Guidelines.
This logo should only be used when the background would otherwise make the Unit logo illegible or barely noticeable.
This logo should only be used when creating a profile in a social media platform. More guidance available at UCL Social Media.
Trial Logos
The nature of our activity means that many times we will need to use our logo in conjunction with other logos, especially trial-specific logos. We would ask you to follow the UCL Co-branding guidelines wherever appropriate. Also, when designing a new logo, please get in touch with the Unit Administration Team (see below) for advice and support.
If you have any queries regarding the use of any of these materials, please contact the Unit Administration Team (cctu-enquiries@ucl.ac.uk).
Colour
The Unit colour is know as "Mid Green" in the UCL colour palette. The values for this colour are:
- Pantone 7495C / 583U
- C 42 M 5 Y 98 K 29
- RGB (143, 153, 62)
- HEX #8F993E
Our branding follows a complementary theme (i.e. one main colour and cone colour from the opposite side of the wheel), therefore using Mid Green and Light Purple.
If you have any queries regarding the use of any of these materials, please contact the Unit Administration Team (cctu-enquiries@ucl.ac.uk).
Other materials and resources
More templates
There is a wealth of branded resources available at the UCL Communications & Marketing website. When using any of these, you must always ensure that you change the strapline "LONDON'S GLOBAL UNIVERSITY" for "COMPREHENSIVE CLINICAL TRIALS UNIT".
Fonts
We observe UCL Typography guidelines in all out external communications. UCL has two typefaces: Arial and Garamond.
Arial is the primary font because it is available on a large number of computers and systems worldwide, and it can be used in any weight (bold, italics, light, medium, or regular). Helvetica can also be used as an alternative to Arial where available. We also use Garamond as a secondary typeface.
In your internal communications and e-mails you may use whichever font you prefer.
