The Spoils of Rampion Wind Farm

8 June 2018

This month ASE were excited to feature on ITV, with the fascinating discovery of a Saxon skeleton from our excavations for Rampion Wind farm.

ASE was involved in investigating the landscape through which the cabling for Rampion Wind Farm would run. This work uncovered a lot of archaeology, including a Saxon skeleton, buried on the South Downs. Once removed from site and examined by our oesteoarchaologists, it became apparent that the skeleton had not died of natural causes, but had been intentionally killed.

To see a video of the skeleton and commentary from our post-excavation manager Jim Stevenson (author of 'Living by the Sword'), 'Anglo-Saxon skeleton found during wind farm works' is available through the ITV website.
