Arena for Postdoctoral Researchers

For postdoctoral researchers looking to develop their teaching and supervision.

If you're a postdoctoral researcher, the UCL Arena programme offers you a range of flexible opportunities for developing your teaching and supervision, and gaining a qualification to teach (UCL Arena and Higher Education Academy (HEA) fellowships).

Learning teaching essentials

In the Introduction to Teaching Workshop you'll be introduced to, and discuss, different ways of making teaching effective and consider how you would like to use these approaches in your teaching.

Search for relevant events in the UCL Arena events calendar (tick the 'postdoctoral researchers' option in the Audience filter).

An opportunity to practise teaching

A follow-up session, Microteaching for Postdoctoral researchers, provides you with the opportunity to put into practice what you learned in the introductory workshop.

Here, you'll deliver a short teaching session to a small group of your peers and give and receive formative feedback on each other's practice.

Search for relevant events in the UCL Arena events calendar (tick the 'postdoctoral researchers' option in the Audience filter).

Postdoctoral researchers who supervise students

If you have supervisory responsibilities (for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects) go to our research supervision at UCL pages.

Professional recognition through fellowships

If you teach, supervise, assess or support students’ learning, in any role, you could gain recognition for your teaching with a UCL Arena fellowship, accredited by the Higher Education Academy
