On behalf of the Provost, I lead on education and the student experience at UCL.  

I took up my post in 2012 before which I was Principal and Dean at the School of Pharmacy, University of London, prior to its merger with UCL.

I lead on a number of UCL-wide initiatives, particularly in the area of digital education, including a pilot on fully online postgraduate taught provision. 

I am chair of UCL’s Education Information Services Governance Group as well as the Digital Infrastructure Oversight Group.

I have overall strategic responsibility for the UCL Institute of Education’s teaching and learning portfolio comprising a large teacher education, undergraduate and postgraduate taught portfolio, leading change, managing quality and supporting innovation.

My areas of active research are:

  • Teacher education and development
  • Language education

I lead on the student experience at UCL on behalf of the Vice Provost of Education and Student Affairs. 

As the senior institutional champion for the quality of the student experience, my role will be to work with key colleagues, including the student engagement team, the students union, estates and the registry to drive transformational change in partnership with our students and to amplify the student voice. 

I provide academic oversight of the ASER and TEF processes and chair the Student Experience Committee 

Alongside this I am also Director of UCL Medical School and lead for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme.
