Medical emergencies
In the case of a medical emergency, you should attend an accident and emergency service in your host country. As soon as possible after admittance, you or a friend or family member should contact your Travel Insurance provider to alert them and ask for emergency assistance.

Civil unrest, terrorism or natural disaster
UCL Study Abroad Team monitors all the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel alerts for the countries that you are in so we are aware of major issues overseas. In the case of a major incident occurring in your area, UCL will contact you to ensure that you are safe. You should also try to contact your family and friends as soon as you can to let them know how you are.

Please note that the British Consulate can only assist British Nationals overseas - they cannot provide this support to other countries’ nationals, even if they may have been legally living in the UK. You should make sure to locate your nearest national embassy or consulate when you arrive in your host country.
Civil unrest
Civil unrest (usually events such as illegal parades, sit-ins and other forms of obstructions, riots or sabotage) usually erupts in areas where there are socio-political pressures on the population. In the case of civil instability in your area or nearby, make sure to avoid demonstrations and known areas of conflict. Follow instructions given by your host university carefully and contact your national embassy as soon as possible for advice. If it is unsafe for you to stay in the country, the embassy will arrange for your evacuation.
Terrorism
If a terrorist attack occurs in your area, you should contact your national embassy immediately for assistance. If it is unsafe for you to stay in the country, the embassy will arrange for your evacuation. If you are injured in the attack, please follow the guidelines above for medical emergencies.
Natural disaster
If a natural disaster occurs in your area, you should take care to follow all guidance issued by the government of your host country and keep yourself safe. If possible, you should contact your national embassy for advice as soon as you can - if it is not deemed safe for you to stay in the country, they will arrange for your evacuation.
