About the crochet workshop

Discover the cozy world of crochet with the guidance of the UCL Knitting Society! Join us for an introductory workshop where you'll learn the basics of this timeless craft, perfect for creating winter warmers for yourself or your loved ones. No prior experience is needed – all the necessary equipment will be provided on the day, and you'll leave with your own sample project to finish at your leisure. During the workshop, our skilled instructors will walk you through the fundamental techniques, ensuring you gain the confidence and skills needed to embark on your crafting journey. Please note that spaces are limited, so secure your spot by booking in advance. Free refreshments will be provided to attendees.

The benefits of crochet

Crochet is not just a hobby, but can also be beneficial for your physical and mental health. From reducing stress to increasing brain activity, it can have a lot of positive effects on your wellbeing.

Stress relief: Crochet is considered to be meditative activity that can help to reduce stress and anxiety. The repetitive motions involved in crochet can help to calm the mind and promote a sense of relaxation. This can be especially beneficial for those who suffer from conditions such as anxiety or depression.

Increased social connections: Many people enjoy crochet as a way to connect with others who share the same interest. Joining a crochet group can provide an opportunity to socialize and connect with others, which can be beneficial for mental health and overall wellbeing.

Increased self-esteem and confidence: Creating a finished product through crochet can be a rewarding experience that can boost self-esteem and confidence. This can be notably advantageous for people who may be struggling with self-esteem, anxiety or confidence issues.
