This session will introduce best practices around data management and data sharing, and will highlight the support and tools available at UCL. Areas covered will include: how good data management can help taking care of your research sources (whether digital or not) and best practices from the planning stage to the end of your project.

Global Opportunities for Early Careers Staff
Do you want to learn about UCL funding opportunities (including global funds)? Are you interested in finding out how to write for international journal publications? This half-day conference will raise awareness of UCL funding opportunities for early career staff and provide support for preparing for the REF by understanding how to write for an international audience. The conference will end with a lively networking session with drinks and canapé reception. Do come along and meet fellow early career staff just like you!

Publish or Perish: Getting Collaborative Social Science Published
A panel discussion convened by Dr Laura Knight (Co-Chair, CSSD Early Career Network, Research Associate in Medical Education, UCL Medical School
The way we do research is changing. Funders are showing a growing interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary research which is leading to increasing numbers of cross-disciplinary projects receiving funding. Many Early Career Researchers (ECRs) will be involved in these projects and, in the 'publish or perish' climate of academia, getting this non-traditional content published is a new challenge for them to overcome.

Supporting social scientists across the disciplinary spectrum at UCL
Join us to formally launch UCL's Collaborative Social Science Domain (CSSD) and learn more about our activities to date and plans for the future. This will be an ideal opportunity for UCL researchers to discover how our Domain can support them and facilitate new cross-disciplinary collaborations. There will be contributions from senior representatives from major research funding bodies who will discuss the role of cross-disciplinarity in their strategic priorities. Consent to participate in research under the General Data Protection Regulation
On 25 May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force and will replace the current Data Protection Act 1998. The GDPR creates new rights for individuals, strengthens current rights and amends the definition of consent, including how it should be given. This two hour seminar will focus on this change and how research that requires opt-out recruitment processes could be undertaken in light of this change. Further details and registration
