All visitors without a library card should preferably arrange a date and time for your visit in advance by emailing us on lib-archaeology@ucl.ac.uk or visiting our membership pages. Undergraduates from other UK universities are admitted free of charge in vacation periods, see membership for details.

Subject coverage and guides
The Institute of Archaeology Library houses collections relating to the following subject areas:
- Archaeology;
- Egyptology (the Edwards Library);
- Classical Archaeology collection (Yates Library).
Accessibility
There is currently no wheelchair access to the Library. However, we offer a range of other facilities for users with disabilities which are listed separately.
Services
Bookable study spaces
We have bookable quiet study seats in rooms 505 and 506 and at the rear of the library. The desks at the rear of the library are height adjustable.
Seats can be booked for five hours at a time and can be reserved three days in advance. These seats will be for the use of UCL staff and students only. A range of other seats, which do not require booking in advance, can still be found throughout the library.
Self-guided tour

Users of the library can familiarise themselves to general library resources and collections and make the most of all our services and facilities, with our self guided tour.
Printing
MFDs (multi-functional devices) are available throughout the Institute building and library, allowing staff and current students to print, scan and copy in both colour and black and white. All three services are offered in one stream-lined service through ISD and credit for copying and printing (scanning is free) can be obtained following the same routes. There is a cash loader machine in the library for topping up student print accounts. Accounts can also be topped up online using credit cards. Information on charges, credit and general printing can be found on the ISD web pages.
IT and audiovisual provision
There are three Explore catalogue terminals, two in the main reading room and one in the first of the side reading rooms.
We don’t have any video playback available here nor microfiche reader. Microfiche readers are available in other nearby UCL libraries.
Inter Library Loans
The Institute Library participates in the centralised inter library loans service for UCL staff and students.
