Resources available to support homeschooling

The lists, compiled by academics in the IOE’s Centre for Educational Leadership (CEL, formerly known as the London Centre for Leadership in Learning) and the Centre for Inclusive Education (CIE), feature resources for primary and secondary school pupils. They also contain videos and websites for adults to help them talk to children about the coronavirus and learning resources about the virus for pupils.

All these resources are either free, or they have been made free during the period of school closures.

The support highlighted by the CIE aims to make the transition to homeschooling as smooth as possible. This includes content on routines, visual timetables and collaboration when planning.

‘Managing the transition to homeschooling’ is the first in a series of resources. Other content covers:

The Centre is concentrating efforts on compiling resources for homeschooling children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in particular.

The UCL Centre for Holocaust Education has also produced a series of resources so that pupils can continue to learn about the Holocaust during school closures.

And the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Pedagogy (0 - 11 years) has a list of philosophical questions to help parents and guardians provide their children with engaging opportunities to think, learn, and have fun at home.
