Resources for History A-Level

History and Anthropology have long been closely related disciplines, helping to frame the study of human life and different cultures and civilisations around the world, past and present.

At AnthroSchools, we base our resources on the AQA A-Level History specification and have created the following resources.

We value teacher feedback of any kind on these resources. Please email anthroschools@ucl.ac.uk for any suggestions on how we can improve these resources or to suggest any resources you would like to see in the future.

The Falklands War

(Section 2S: Part Two Modern Britain (1979-2007))

In this extended resource about the Falklands War, students will be asked to finish a variety of tasks about the historical study of the war. They will be asked to analyse anthropological quotes about territories and borders, critically question sources of information from non-English perspectives and address the US-UK special relationship. This resource makes use of a variety of source material, including photographs, quotes and cartoons.

This resource helps to deliver the following learning outcomes.

  • Students will think critically about concepts like land ownership, territory and borders.
  • Students will engage with complex topics like colonialism and ethnocentrism.
  • Students will analyse both Anglo-centric and non-Anglo-centric accounts and sources.
  • Students will engage critically with media propaganda and consider its value for historical study.

Students will develop key skills which include

  • Engaging with diverse source material
  • Critical questioning of information and sources
  • Developing the use and understanding of historical terms
  • Evaluation and analysis of unfamiliar perspectives
  • Core reading, writing and analytical skills
