UCL Arena teaching may be affected by planned industrial action

18 February 2020

Participants are advised to check their email for updates before travelling to Arena Centre sessions during the period of planned UCU industrial action.

University and College Union (UCU) are planning 14 days of industrial action in February and March 2020.  UCL Arena teaching sessions that can be resourced during that period will go ahead as usual, but you should expect that sessions may be cancelled with little or no notice.

Notice to participants

Please check your email before attending Arena Centre professional development sessions scheduled during strike action days in February and March.

There is no expectation that if you are striking you should attend, and you will not be penalised in any way for not attending.

Materials will be available on Moodle, and our events calendar has information about sessions relating to both UCL Arena Fellowships and areas of learning and teaching that will take place outside of strike action days.

Arena One and Two participants may contact the course administrators (arena.one@ucl.ac.uk and arena.two@ucl.ac.uk) about opportunities to join future cohorts.

When will the industrial action be taking place?

The strike dates are planned as follows:

  • Week one: Monday 24, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 February
  • Week two: Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March
  • Week three: Monday 9, Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March
  • Week four: Thursday 19 and Friday 20 March

Please note these dates differ from those published on the UCU website. Further information can be found on the UCL and UCU industrial action FAQ page.
