UCL’s Global Citizenship Programme re-designed for 2019-20

The UCL Global Citizenship programme allows students to engage in interdisciplinary learning experiences with students from across UCL. New for 2019-20, activities will take place throughout the year. 

Why should students take part? 

The programme will teach your students the essential qualities of a global citizen by exploring the world's biggest challenges. It is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate taught students.  

Students choose one strand which are linked to UCL's Grand Challenges themes. They will develop their knowledge and skills by:

• working with students from other discipline areas
• producing interactive projects and group work
• working with external organisations
• hearing from UCL and other experts on current research about global issues
• presenting outputs in films, posters or business ideas
• partnering with Volunteering Service Unit and UCL Careers.

Structure of programme and key dates

• Opening Launch event: Monday 11 November 2019 – a drop-in event in the South Cloisters for students to find out more about the programme.
• Talks, seminars and workshops on each of the strands throughout term one and two.
• Weekend Challenge: Saturday 21 March – Sunday 22 March - students will engage in a small group project.
• One-week Summer School: Monday 08 – Friday 12 June 2020 – students will work in small groups to produce a programme output, have the opportunity to work with external organisations on particular global issues and hear from experts through talks, seminars and panel discussions.

How students register

1. Register their interest from the beginning of term.
2. Confirm their choice of strand by Friday 06 December 2019.
