This workshop [Academic Support for Programme Leads], offered by UCL Arena Centre, is aimed at Programme Leads. It considers the role of the Programme Lead in managing academic support and personal tutoring across their taught programme.

In this session we will:

  • Consider the programme lead’s role in managing personal tutoring & academic support across their taught programme;
  • Reflect on the types of academic support your programme’s students might need;
  • Describe the central academic support resources available to help students and staff at UCL, including the new Student Support Framework;
  • Discuss some examples of how personal tutoring and academic support is structured across UCL.

It is expected that participants will have completed the ‘Introduction to Personal Tutoring’ workshop run by Arena. You are also encouraged to be familiar with Section 1 of the UCL Personal Tutoring online course before attending the workshop. Workshop resources will be hosted on the UCL Personal Tutoring eXtend site and will be made available at least one week ahead of the workshop. Please see this webpage for how to enrol on the online course.

This workshop is not appropriate for new personal tutors or academic advisors. Please see the Introduction to Personal Tutoring or Developing as a Personal Tutor workshops if you would like to develop your practice in these roles.
