Wednesday 15 March 2023, 10:00 - 11:30 (online)

This session is part of a suite of sessions supporting Programme Leaders to manage and lead taught programmes of study. Other sessions include:

  • Programme design and review
  • Designing assessment across a programme
  • Student support
  • Education enhancement and UCL quality processes

During the session, delivered by the Arena Centre, we will explore effective leadership practices and how we can use these when working with colleagues who we may not manage directly. We will discuss managing change, using our influence, coaching approaches and compassionate leadership. Using case studies, we will put our leadership skills into practice.

In this session we will:

  • Encourage you to reflect on your leadership approaches and the spaces and contexts in which you lead
  • Explore some ideas around change management, influence, coaching and compassion
  • Consider how these approaches might be put into practice through case studies and in your own work.

After the session you will be able to:

  • Reflect on and develop strategies for working with others effectively in a leadership role
  • Acknowledge and build on previous experience of leadership to better acknowledge their leadership identity
  • Create opportunities for themselves and those around  them to lead and cope effectively with change
