Find latest updates and news on RegisterUCL, the app and attendance recording devices

19th February 2024

We are aware some students are not able to log into the SEAtS/RegisterUCL App to register their attendance via QR code or iBeacons, we are working with ISD colleagues to investigate and solve this.

Your faculty/Dept are aware of the issue and will advise you of their alternative attendance capture method for teaching sessions in spaces without card readers.

Apologies for any inconvenience. We will keep you updated on our progress with this issue.

25th January 2024

Unfortunately there was a bug in the latest version of the SEAtS app that resulted in teaching events not appearing in the calendar within the app. This issue has now been resolved and events should now appear correctly. If your events are still not showing, please shut down the app completely, restart it, and check again.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. UCL values the continued engagement of our students in recording attendance and we aim to make it as straightforward as possible.

We understand that some of you may be encountering difficulties with viewing your attendance data in the RegisterUCL/SEAtS App.

Please be aware that your card swipes data may not appear in real time, it could take a few days for your attendance information to be fully processed and reflected in the app. During this processing period, you may initially appear as 'absent,'  this status will be corrected once the processing is complete.

When registering your attendance, to be marked as present, you need to complete the action within the specified timeframe. For example, if your class starts at 12:00, you can register your attendance between  11:40 to 12:20.  RegisterUCL will mark you as absent if you try to register your attendance 20 minutes after an event has started, or if you register your attendance more than 20 minutes before the event begins. It will show in your app as absent and can only be changed by your Faculty or Departmental administrator with approval from the lecturer.

If you followed the correct steps but your attendance status is not showing correctly after 3 working days, please report it as an issue.

When submitting a help request, please provide the following details to assist us in addressing your concern effectively:

  • Module code

  • Date, time and location of the teaching event where your attendance data is incorrect

  • The method of attendance registration used (e.g. card reader, mobile app and QR code, or mobile app and iBeacon) and any supporting evidence that can help us address your concern effectively.
