Volunteering
Centre LGBT Paris offers flexible volunteering options. The organisation regularly informs you
about their upcoming programme and the volunteers are asked for help for some of the planned
events. For instance, the Centre celebrates this year 25th anniversary. Volunteers are encouraged
to participate in the celebration, invite their friends, design a mascot for the Centre and to help
with the organisation. Your participation depends on your schedule and your will. The Centre
offers you specific training, which is obligatory for certain type of volunteering. The covered topics
are tips how to avoid discrimination by broadening your horizons for example about the daily
struggles of transgender people. To facilitate you finding a volunteering position, please find a list
of helpful websites below:

Internships in Cultural Centres
The organisation FICEP unites national cultural centres in Paris. Due to the difference between the
term dates at French and German universities, I had three months before the term starts at
Heidelberg University. Therefore, I applied for an administrative internship in the Czech Cultural
Centre in Paris. The tasks varied from daily administration, translation, communication with artists,
to organisation of cultural events and catering. The experience enabled me to observe in contrast
the working culture of French and Czech employees as well as the importance of a multicultural
team to connect French and Czech public. Equally, it is remarkable if and how has the long-term
stay abroad changed the approach and attitude of people from your home country.

Last Words About Paris
As London, Paris has its unique face for everyone to discover. There are some general tendencies
that are especially true here. For example, I have experiences only in Paris two minutes that
actually lasted five minutes (announced wanting time for the tube) or that you are adult from the
age of thirteen (the entrance fee to the Paris Zoological Parc. I would like to share with you some
recommendations that are in my humble opinion a good start to explore the city. The document
contains information about shared accommodation, finding activities in Paris, tips off the beaten
path, music and theatre venues, museums and galleries as well as tips for vegans.
