Welcome from the Provost

UCL President & Provost Professor Michael Arthur joined UCL in September 2013 and is internationally renowned for his contribution to education and medical research. Here's his welcome message to you.

As UCL’s President and Provost, it is with very great pleasure and a huge amount of pride that I welcome you to UCL.

While the world around us has experienced extraordinary change in response to the global pandemic, I want to reassure you that from the outset, your experience at UCL will be of the very highest quality. You are joining a leading world-class institution that prides itself on being ‘London’s Global University’, and we welcome you as members and partners into our outstanding university community.

Your health and wellbeing are paramount. We are continuing to follow UK Government guidance, as well as the expertise of our researchers, including specialists in health, education, human behaviour and infection prevention, to make sure UCL is as safe as possible for all our students. We have an experienced team to support you through the formalities of becoming a UCL student – please don’t hesitate to approach them with any questions or help that you need. We want you to be able to make the transition into being a student at UCL seamlessly, and hope that your time here will be one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling experiences of your life.

We want you to be ready for a global future, resilient and capable of assuming leadership responsibility, and ready to make a significant contribution to global society throughout your careers. I wish you every success in your time at UCL and hope that it will be a thoroughly transformative, high quality, learning and life experience for you.
