Required documentation

Identification

• Non-EU students: Passport and valid visa  (including BRP)
• EU students: National ID card or passport

Letter from UCL

• Statement of Student Status letter issued at Enrolment, which confirms your permanent (home) address and your term-time address. The letter does not need to be addressed specifically to Barclays, or;
• Letter issued by your Hall of Residence if you are staying in UCL accommodation will also be accepted

Facilities

• A Student Additions Account (international)
• You can withdraw cash and use the card to pay in shops/restaurants and online
• You can set up a  direct debit
• Online and telephone banking
• You can opt in and out of receiving bank statements
• No overdraft facility is available
• There is no monthly fee associated with this account

Appointments

• You should visit the branch in person to make an appointment to set up your account. Bring your documents with you so staff can check them. You will need to visit the branch once to make the appointment, and then a second time to attend your appointment.
• It is quicker to set up your account if you complete the first section of your application online, prior to visiting the branch for your appointment. Once you have completed the online application, take note of your reference number and take it with you to your appointment with your passport/visa and letter from UCL.
