Information about the School's team, SSEES Evergreens, focusing on sustainability and participating in Green Impact.
SSEES Evergreens Team is committed to supporting UCL Sustainable and their six commitments for 2024. We are working towards making SSEES more green and sustainable - it is time to make change possible! We participate in a UCL-wide environmental competition and accreditation scheme known as Green Impact.
SSEES Evergreen Team is led by Green Champion, Dr Irina Petrova. In the academic year 2020-21, SSEES Evergreens Teams proudly achieved a Bronze Award. A year later, in 2021-22, we were lucky to work with 3 Sustainability Ambassadors - Noor Khan-Lodhi, Luiza Sierzputowska, and Xinyu Pei and the SSEES Evergreens Team achieved a Silver Award! Read what changes we were able to implement.
If you are interested in joining the Team, whether you are a member of staff or a student, or have a suggestion please get in touch with Dr Petrova.
Current Sustainability Ambassadors
Hi, my name is Alison. I am a 2nd year undergraduate geographer, and I am excited to be a UCL Sustainability Ambassador for 2024/25! My academic interests mainly focus on human geography including political, urban and economic geographies. I am looking forward to being a part of UCL’s sustainability programme and affecting positive change in the SSEES department. For me sustainability is about going beyond necessary environmental protections, addressing the complexity of climate justice questions and political transformation to support climate action. As an educational institution, UCL has an important position to play in being a leader in the field when it comes to championing sustainability. I am excited to raise awareness about sustainability challenges and meet other like-minded individuals who are looking to redefine climate challenges and what it means for them and the world around us.
Hello, my name is Maria, one of the UCL Sustainability Ambassador for 2024/25! I am currently doing my MSc in Global Migration. I am passionate about migration studies, particularly the intersections between policy, securitisation, and human mobility. I am excited to be part of the Green Impact Team and to focus my volunteer work at the SSEES department! I am interested in social sustainability and how community led projects contribute to positive action. I enjoy meeting new people, travelling and cooking!
