Tatiana Garipova

Tatiana Garipova has been teaching Russian to adult students of varied ages and learning styles at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels in the UK since 2006. She has also taught Russian to FCDO staff both one-to-one and in small groups on highly demanding intensive courses for 11 years. She has a BA in Linguistics and Translation from Krasnoyarsk State University (Russia) and an MA in the History of Japan from Kanazawa University (Japan). In 2008 Tatiana completed a teacher training course (Level 5 DET, previously DTLLS). She joined SSEES evening courses programme in 2010.

Tatiana loves teaching, and she has always been fascinated by how quickly people start expressing themselves in a new language, progressing from basic phrases to a sophisticated conversation. She enjoys communicating with people and learning about them as individuals – their interests, views, and life stories. Tatiana is a keen language learner herself. She completed a master’s degree entirely in Japanese and she understands what it means to learn a language very different to your own.

Tatiana likes running (about 25 miles a week) and making clay sculptures.
