UCL physicists made key contributions to the creation of the first image of a black hole
Case studies submitted to REF 2021 by UCL Physics 2021 include: a study on improving student attainment and teacher motivation in physics through our ORBYTS (Original Research by Young Twinkle Scientists) programme and advancing atomic force microscopy to set new benchmarks for DNA imaging.

Euclid, a space mission led by the European Space Agency that includes a massive optical camera designed and built by UCL researchers, will map the large-scale structures of the universe to better understand two mysterious components: dark matter and dark energy.
