What to expect on campus this term
26 October 2021
Find out more about what to expect on campus this term, what UCL is doing to keep our community safe, and the guidance staff and students should be following.
We’re working hard to keep you as safe as possible on campus, but we also need your help to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
How you can play your part
Before you arrive on campus
If you’re feeling at all unwell, you must stay at home.
Before coming to campus, download the free NHS COVID-19 app to protect yourself and others.
The app lets you know if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and can also be used to check into a venue, order a test and register a positive or negative test result.
Even if you don’t have COVID-19 symptoms, make sure that you test yourself twice a week using a rapid lateral flow test (LFT). Around one in three people infected with COVID-19 do not experience symptoms, which means they can still pass it on to others including those who could become seriously unwell if they catch the virus.
Make sure you report your status through UCL Connect to Protect to let us know: if you have symptoms of coronavirus, if you need to self-isolate, when you receive the results of a coronavirus test, or if you're a student and you are or will be quarantining after returning to the UK.
If you are not yet vaccinated, please get your first or second dose as soon as possible.
Once you arrive on campus
You’ll notice several measures are in place to help keep our community safe on campus, such as the regular cleaning of buildings and ventilation of spaces.
We also expect you to:
- be aware that face coverings are mandatory for all staff and students while you are indoors on campus, including in lectures, seminar rooms, study spaces, offices and labs (unless you are exempt);
- wash or sanitise your hands frequently throughout the day;
- be considerate of those around you, especially if they’re wearing a ‘Please Give Me Space’ lanyard or badge.
Let’s all do our part to stay safe on campus – together, we can make a difference. Visit our Coronavirus Information Hub for more information about the safety measures we’re putting in place on campus and what you can do to help keep everyone safe.
