A Journey Through Online

Language Learning

Syllabus Type > Skills Based (Product-based approach)

Skills are specific abilities needed when using language - typically speaking, listening, writing and reading. In a skills-based syllabus, they are usually more specific, linking certain linguistic competences, such as listening or pronunciation, to a more general skill, e.g. listening to news broadcasts for gist, or presentation skills in the foreign language. The main goal of this kind of syllabus is to improve this specific skill, even though the learner can also sporadically pick up other information about the language whilst doing so.

Examples: Reading Skills in Business Dutch, Developing Listening and Speaking Skills in Polish, Hogelands [academic / writing skills], Read Ukrainian
