A Journey Through Online

Language Learning

Syllabus Type > Situational (Product-based approach)

In a situational syllabus, language is offered to the student as it occurs in certain situations, such as ‘going to the greengrocer’s’ or ‘seeing a doctor’. The language that is used in these specific situations will always contain certain functions and notions, but they are part of a realistic discourse. Notions and functions are still important, but they are far more contextualised than in functional syllabuses. The role of grammar is either non-existent or merely supportive in these syllabuses.

Examples: Lagelands, Developing Listening and Speaking Skills in Polish
