The Biostatistics Group designs and analyses health studies and conducts research on statistical methodology needed for the solution of biomedical problems.
The Group is led by Professor Rumana Omar and staff have joint appointments with the UCL Department of Statistical Science and PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit.
The statisticians have expertise in different types of trial designs (from early to late phase including cluster randomised and other innovative trial designs), other types of study designs, statistical methods in medicine including risk prediction models, machine learning techniques, causal inference and statistics for health economics and are co-applicants on numerous successful grants from funders such as the NIHR, Wellcome Trust and the MRC.
Advice and collaboration
The statisticians are available for collaboration with health researchers on grant applications and research projects and they also offer statistical advice to biomedical researchers at UCLH and Royal Free Trusts and the UCL Medical School (students and animal studies are not eligible for this support).
Please note that advice is free but statistical collaboration requires involvement from the study conception stage and may require funding.
Please contact the Biostatistics Group at an early stage (i.e. Design) and leave good time before grant deadlines (at least one month).
