Software for your own device

Software that is available for home use can be downloaded from UCL's Software Database and installed on personal devices.

Before you get going, there are a few things you need to be aware of:

Software versions
For both consistency and compatibility you should download the software version you use at UCL, rather than the latest one. This applies to both staff and students.

Home use
While home use is permitted under some of our agreements, this does not amount to a personal licence. Use of software is subject to personal educational development, studying and academic research. By using software that UCL has made available for home use, you agree to these terms and conditions.

Much of the software available on campus computers is available remotely via Desktop @ UCL Anywhere.

A variety of software is available on Desktop @ UCL computers (available on campus in student workrooms).

Suppliers offering free and discounted rates on student/personal licences.

Anti-virus software: UCL has agreements with F-secure and Sophos to allow registered students to download virus protection for their home use.
Download F-secure or Sophos from the software database.
Microsoft software: Free Microsoft Products

Office 365 - 5 free Installs
As a student you are entitled to 5 free installs of Office 365 while at UCL. You can find out how to access this software by visiting our Microsoft Office 365 web pages.
