PGT Home Fees Studentship 2024

We offer one full home fees studentship for our Health Data Science and Health Informatics PGT programmes, for entry in September 2024.

At the UCL Institute of Health Informatics, we work to develop and evaluate data collecting systems and utilise the data these systems produce. Our mission is to train and educate talented individuals that will deliver changes in healthcare, transform medical research, and create exciting new commercial opportunities. You can find out more about our educational offer in our Study pages.

The Institute currently offers two postgraduate taught programmes, in Health Informatics and Health Data Science, and we are seeking a bright prospective home student to award a full home fees studentship starting in September 2024.

FAQs

What should I include in my Expression of Interest?

You will only have 500 words (around 1 page). You should include:

  • Your applicant number.
  • Why are you interested in the programme you have applied for?
  • How would you benefit from this studentship?
  • What impact do you hope to make?
  • How does this program fit your goals?
  • What relevant skills do you possess?
  • Any other aspects that you would like the studentship committee to be aware of and/or that would make your application stand out.

Once ready, send your final Expression of interest to ihi.education@ucl.ac.uk before 31 July 2024. Please note that we will consider your statement in conjunction with your full submitted application.

I am not eligible for Home fees, can I still apply?

Unfortunately, no.

This studentship is targeted at prospective students who qualify for UK rates, as this group is currently underrepresented in our courses.

Can I apply if I am intending to do the course part-time?

Yes, you can.

Our programmes can be undertaken on a part-time or modular/flexible basis, as we are aware that many of our students train while they work, or have other commitments.

Please ensure you detail any relevant personal circumstances in your Expression of Interest.

Can I apply if I am planning to do a PG Dip or PG Cert?

Yes, you can.

We offer a PG Dip and PG Cert in Health Informatics. If you are planning to apply for this course, you are still eligible for the Home Fees 2024 studentship.

Please ensure you detail any relevant personal circumstances in your Expression of Interest.

I have already received an offer for the Health Informatics or the Health Data Science programme. Can I still apply for the Home Fees Studentship?

Yes, you can.

Congratulations on your offer and we are looking forward to welcoming you in September. You can now apply for this studentship, and you will hear about the outcome by 21 August 2024.

Please be mindful that we only have one studentship available, so we anticipate it will be a very competitive process.

Does the Home Fees Studentship pay a stipend?

No, it does not.

This studentship is a fees-only award, and it will cover the costs of your UCL tuition fees whilst you are registered as a student in our Health Informatics or Health Data Science PGT programmes.

I have already applied for another UCL programme, can I transfer my application?

No, you cannot.

Each programme of study at UCL has different entry requirements, and your application will need to be assessed by our admissions tutors. We cannot transfer your application from another programme of study. You will need to submit a new application to be considered for this studentship.

What happens if I apply for the Home Fees Studentship 2024 but I am unsuccessful?

We can only fund one home fees studentship for entry in 2024, so we anticipate it will be a very competitive process.

If you receive an offer for entry in our courses, but you are unsucessful for the studentship, we would encourage you to still enrol in our programme, either self-funding or exploring other funding options.

It is important to note that we will not be able to refund any application fees paid for the relevant course.
