Establishing synergistic research between the UCL Ear Institute and the Institut de l’Audition.

A project to establish research, training and teaching links between UCL's Ear Institute and Prais' Institut de l’Audition. Part of the Cities partnership Programme.

23 September 2022

This workshop brings together two of the largest Institutes in Europe -- the UCL Ear Institute (UCL EI) and the Institute de l’Audition (IDA) --  with common visions, dedicated to the study of the auditory system. Its primary aim is to identify areas of synergy in research, training, and teaching, and to establish long-lasting collaborative links that will bring added value to both of these world-leading centres of excellence.

UCL EI was established in 2005, and is a world-leading multidisciplinary institute housing Europe’s largest and broadest range of scientists and clinicians in hearing sciences and ENT medicine, while IDA is a newly established institute in Paris that opened in June 2020, and brings together a multidisciplinary group of researchers, which today form seven teams and two research groups, with the goals of carrying out high-quality research, build a better understanding of inner ear disorders’ pathologies, and to disseminate and transmit this knowledge to society and relevant medical communities.

The Cities partnership Programme-funded two-day event will include the Institute Directors and Senior Researchers from both the UCL EI and the IDA. In addition, there will be talks from Junior Scientists at both the IDA and UCL EI.
