Strategy
Under the leadership of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement), UCL Global Engagement aims to deliver transformational global impact, extend our international reach and develop fair solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges through global ‘partnerships for change’.
To support the delivery of this approach, the Global Engagement (GE) team acts as a ‘hub’ for global at UCL, supporting our academic community to collaborate across borders and boundaries, enabling responsible impact for the greater good internationally.
Further details on how UCL’s approach to global engagement will evolve under UCL Strategic Plan 2022-27 will follow on this page soon.
Global Engagement Strategy 2015-20
Underpinning UCL's approach to global engagement is UCL's Global Engagement Strategy (GES) 2015-20, which was based on UCL 2034 and the global aspects of its six Principal Themes.
The GES was created to deliver global impact: the sixth Principal Theme of UCL 2034.
UCL Strategic Plan 2022-27
UCL’s new strategic plan, published in January 2023, sets out our whole-university priorities for the next five years, focusing effort and investment on a small number of shared priorities developed through a year-long consultation with our community and stakeholders.
It will maintain the trajectory established by UCL 2034 and our ambition to be London’s global university. UCL 2034 is an important statement of vision and aspiration for UCL as a globally leading university.
Seven years in, our sector, our city and the broader external environment have changed dramatically. We have a new President and Provost and we are emerging from a global pandemic during a time of geopolitical and social change.
With several institutional strategies at the end of their duration, we reviewied our progress in research, education and innovation and reset our goals for the next period of our development.
