Antibody-based diagnostics in conformational disease
Preliminary research into diseases of protein aggregation. Part of the Cities partnership Programme.
15 September 2022
This project joins a partner laboratory in Rome, which has expertise in the development of conformationally-selective monoclonal antibodies as clinical and research diagnostic tools, with our laboratory at UCL that has extensive experience in applying integrative structural and cellular biology techniques to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying a group of diseases of protein aggregation, the serpinopathies.
The funds will enable us to undertake preliminary research as the basis for joint research grant applications to fund our collaborative work, and to contribute to proposals by a trans-European network of laboratories who work on these diseases. We will also devise and provide a workshop on the development and use of monoclonal antibodies to study aggregation-prone and conformationally-labile proteins.
