Our research degree (MPhil/PhD) programme can be taken full-time or part-time.

The fees listed are for one academic year and are subject to an annual increase of up to 5% annually.

Self-funded students may pay in three equal instalments, in line with UCL’s schedule. Please note that there is no discount for paying course fees in full at the start of the programme.

The programme fee includes:

  • Supervision
  • Examinations 

The programme fee does not include any project consumables and you may be asked to pay an Additional Fee Element (AFE) each year to cover these, this would be confirmed when you receive your formal offer for a place on the course.

    Alternative ways to fund your research degree at UCL

    The Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding Online is a portal for alternative sources of funding - especially charities - which can make awards (fees, maintenance, research costs) to any student regardless of subject or nationality. UCL has purchased a licence to the Guide so it’s free for all students and staff to use. If you are a prospective student who has applied to the university email student funding to get an access PIN.
