Project of the year nomination for Marshgate build

19 April 2024

The company that built our flagship Marshgate building on our new UCL East campus, Mace, has been nominated for a Project of the Year award for its construction in the Construction News Awards 2024.

The Construction News Awards, or CN Awards as they are known, aim to recognise and celebrate best practice in the industry.

Mace has been nominated for Project of the Year for Marshgate in the over £50m category, competing with ten other construction projects, with the winner due to be announced at a ceremony in July.

See below for a summary of Mace's shortlisted entry:

Marshgate unites the arts, technology and science under one roof, enabling users to immerse themselves in innovative activities and cutting-edge research. The majestic building has the space and facilities to help solve some of the most pressing global challenges related to sustainability, climate change, technology transformation and health and wellbeing.

As well as creating an environment where a truly collaborative spirit could thrive, the building needed to be robust, long-life and loose-fit, so that it could readily adapt to changing needs over time. The resulting building is both bespoke and adaptable, working seamlessly as part of the future masterplan.
