10 April 2024

Join UCL materials scientist and BBC broadcaster Mark Miodownik to celebrate Earth Day 2024 with Gaia on our UCL East campus at 5.30pm on Monday 22 April. This year Earth Day explores the theme of Planet vs Plastics.

A woman stands with her arms raised in front of a giant Gaia globe artwork giving the impression that she is holding up the world

Prof Mark Miodownik is one of the founder's of UCL's Plastic Waste Innovation Hub, which carries out research into solving the environmental catastrophe of plastic waste, dealing with topics such as biodegradable plastics and the re-use and repairability of plastic products.

This free early evening event on Earth Day 2024 will last for approximately 45 minutes and is open to everyone.

It will take place beneath the beautiful Gaia globe artwork by Luke Jerram that hangs in the atrium of our Marshgate building, accompanied by a soundtrack by the BAFTA-winning composer, Dan Jones.
