Get involved: east London artists and UCL researchers take part in Trellis 5!
23 November 2023
We are looking for people to participate in Trellis 5, a multistage art commissioning programme that aims to bring together artists, UCL researchers and local east London communities to co-create work together.
The UCL East Cultural and Community engagement team welcome UCL researchers and east London artists to apply to take part in Trellis 5.
What is Trellis?
Trellis is a programme that bring together artists, UCL researchers and east London communities.
Initially we will bring together 35 artists and 35 researchers to meet and share their areas of interest and knowledge. We then fund ten groups or partnerships £1,500 to develop ideas for a collaborative commission. Finally, five groups are funded £15,000 to create a commission, which must be a co-creation between at least one artist, at least one UCL researcher and an east London community.
We will host an exhibition of the work in Spring 2025.
Trellis wants to create opportunities for collaboration between artists, researchers and local communities in order to create new knowledge, ideas and the potential for change or action.
Who are we looking for?
Researchers: We need researchers at UCL from all discipline areas who are interested in working in collaboration with artists and communities in east London.
Artists: We need east London based socially engaged artists with experience of community inclusion and collaboration.
How do I appy?
Find out more and apply on the Trellis website.
There are some changes to the process this year, which include redistributing payment amounts and schedules, and how artists are selected. We have written a blog on our rationale for these changes which can be found on our website.
Trellis is co-funded by Foundation for Future London (FFL) Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Impact Acceleration Account
