1. Contact your faculty’s designated Arena Teaching Fellow

Each UCL Faculty has a named contact who will be able to support the development of assessments and help you with blended teaching, assessment, and personal tutoring.

2. Explore our extensive programme of events

Book onto one of our events or workshops where we share best practice in teaching and learning and discuss ideas and challenges with colleagues. We cover a range of topics including:

  • assessment and feedback
  • designing sessions and modules
  • approaches to engaging students
  • ways to evaluate and reflect on your teaching
  • support and wellbeing, and
  • supervising student research.

3. Gain professional recognition with an Arena and AdvanceHE Fellowship

Whatever your job title, if you teach or support students’ learning at UCL or lead on an area of education, you’re welcome to work with us to achieve recognition.

Since the scheme launched in 2014 there have been 2256 successful fellowship applications! Find out more and start your accreditation journey today.

4. Browse our teaching resources

Make use of the newly launched MicroCPD-UCL, along with case studies and Teaching Toolkits.

These practical resources on a wide range of topics help provide inspiration and guidance for all colleagues involved in teaching and assessing at UCL. Whether you are a new member of academic staff seeking to extend your knowledge or a more experienced teacher looking for a fresh perspective, there is something here for you.

5. Work in partnership

Work in collaboration with your students to enhance the UCL learning experience through a UCL ChangeMaker project.

Upcoming funding deadline: 28 October

Chat to the team! Drop-ins will be held in-person on the 10th floor, 1-19 Torrington Place. No registration is required:

  • Tuesday 11th October - 14:00-16:00
  • Tuesday 18th October - 13:00-15:00
  • Thursday 20th October - 12:00-14:00
  • Tuesday 25th October - 14:00-16:00

Other support and information sessions available, more to be scheduled throughout the term.

6. Get a students’ perspective on your teaching

Through Student Reviewers of Teaching you are paired with two students to build a reflective dialogue about your teaching practice and the learning experience of students on the course. This fulfils the peer-dialogue requirement.

You tell us your requirements; we will match you with a student. You can apply anytime throughout the year.

7. Keep yourself up to date

The monthly Education & Events newsletter is being re-launched. Join over 6,000 UCL staff who receive the latest need-to-know information, deadlines and events in one e-bulletin.
