Cloda Jenkins was shortlisted for a Student Choice Award in 2019 for her work as a personal tutor.
You will hear Cloda Jenkin’s experience providing support to students as a personal tutor, careers tutor and BSc Director in the economics department.
She will share the importance of:
- listening to students
- being honest about the nature of the advice that is given
- delivering difficult messages carefully, and;
- providing support to students to help them help themselves.
There will be ample opportunity for wider discussion on the challenges of providing support, particularly personal development and career support.
After attending this session you will
- understand how to adapt your approach to providing support to students on their personal and career development
- understand how to discuss and manage expectations with students that they support.

You should attend if you are a member of staff who is a personal tutor or provides pastoral support to students.
