Professor Anthony Smith
Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs)
Professor Anthony Smith is responsible for the education agenda at UCL and providing leadership at institutional level. Prior to his appointment at UCL on 1 January 2012, Professor Smith was Principal and Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of London.
Dr Clare Goudy
Director of Education Planning
Clare leads the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) team and works closely with the Vice-Provost on strategic planning for UCL’s education agenda. She is responsible for the Education Strategy and for UCL’s education partnerships. Clare worked in the education charity sector and for the Department for Education and Skills before joining UCL in 2005.

Dr Ruth Siddall
Student Mediator and Academic Director of the Laidlaw Programme
Ruth is UCL’s Student Mediator and is responsible for advising and assisting UCL students with the resolution of complaints, involving staff or other students or services of UCL which the student has been unable to resolve through informal means. Her role is to seek to achieve a resolution between the parties in dispute. She has been working in student support at UCL for over 15 years. Ruth is also Academic Director of the Laidlaw Programme.
Head of Strategic Programme Management
Kurtis is responsible for the implementation and governance of UCL’s education strategy, measuring the progress and performance of a wide range of initiatives designed to improve the teaching, learning and student experience. Kurtis also oversees the Laidlaw Scholars Programme. Prior to joining the team, Kurtis worked in policy and project teams across UCL, and in strategy development roles in both the education and corporate sectors in New Zealand.

Project Manager (Education & Estates)
Christopher works on a variety of education-related projects on behalf of the Office of the Vice-Provost (Education and Student Affairs). Recent activities include the Laidlaw Research and Leadership Programme, the Postgraduate Taught Review, the 2015 Graduate Support Scheme, and various teaching space related initiatives including reviews of electronic timetabling software and new teaching space furniture.

Head of Student Success Projects
Paulette is responsible for a range of projects related to improving outcomes for students which include the Assessment Review and a HEFCE funded partnership project aimed at addressing the BME attainment gap. Paulette oversees our strategic partnerships with schools and the expansion of UCL’s transition programme. Paulette previously worked in Access and Widening Participation at UCL and also runs a youth development initiative.
Project Manager (Student Success)
Sukhi supports a range of projects including, the BME Attainment Gap project, UCL’s Transitions Programme and the Assessment Review project. Prior to joining UCL, Sukhi has worked on projects across the University of Nottingham, University of Kent and LSE.
Head of Academic Support Projects
Viki manages various projects related to academic support, primarily the UCL Introductory Programme - a programme of study and orientation for students to undertake prior to their arrival at UCL, and the Personal Tutoring project. Prior to joining UCL, Viki worked in curriculum management in the Science Faculty at the Open University.

Natalie manages the administration, finance and HR processes for the team and provides project management support to the team’s activities. Natalie previously worked in Access and Widening Participation at UCL.
Diary Manager and Administrative Officer
Jodi Feakes is the Diary Manager for the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs), Student Mediator and Director of Education Planning as well as supporting the rest of the team with office admin duties. Jodi also worked at the IOE and UCL CAM.
Associate Director, Communications
Katie leads the communication of UCL’s education strategy - and the distinctive and innovative teaching and learning it delivers - to staff, students and the wider higher education sector. She worked at SOAS and Royal Holloway, University of London before joining UCL.

Head of Digital Communications
Jenni is senior editor of the department websites, including the UCL Teaching and Learning Portal, and the Teaching and Learning e-newsletter. As well as collating, writing and editing news and case studies from across UCL, she supports the team and departments to deliver education communications.
Dr Clare Bentall
Academic Director, Global Citizenship
Clare's role is to provide academic leadership for UCL's Global Citizenship Programme and to promote Global Citizenship across UCL's activities. Clare is a Lecturer in Education in UCL Institute of Education and Associate Director of the Institute of Education's Development Education Research Centre (DERC), which carries out research into Global Citizenship. She is also editor of the International Journal of Development Education and Global Learning, which features research into Global Citizenship from around the world.
Project Manager (Education Strategy Student Programmes)
Tan co-ordinates the UCL Global Citizenship Programme, a two-week course designed to enrich the UCL student experience through collaborative and interactive activities, tackling global challenges and contributing to the solutions. Tan is a qualified sustainability practitioner. Prior to joining UCL in 2017, he worked in environmental management and engagement projects at Kingston University and the University of Westminster.
Acting Head of Student Engagement
Rachel oversees student engagement at UCL, ensuring that there are opportunities for students to give their feedback and participate in initiatives that enhance their time at UCL. Engagement activities range from providing opportunities for feedback such as student surveys, focus groups and student representation on committees, to implementing opportunities for students to become more closely involved as partners in university projects. Rachel also oversees the Global Citizenship Programme.
Data and Insight Manager (Education)
Rebecca manages and reports on UCL’s institution-wide student surveys including the National Student Survey (NSS) and Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, and analyses the results and other education-related data. These help to inform decision-making, policy and strategy development, and gives UCL a picture of student experience in the round. She is also co-leader of UCL’s Data and Insight Community of Practice. Before joining UCL in 2015, Rebecca worked in the railway industry.

Bettina is responsible for managing the various institution-wide student surveys, including the National Student Survey (NSS), Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), New to UCL and the UCL Student Experience Survey.
She analyses and reports on the results and provides guidance on good survey practice. This information is used to inform the enhancement of the student experience at UCL and also feeds into policy and strategy development.
Prior to joining UCL in 2018 Bettina has worked at the London School of Economics and Political Science and St. Mary’s University.
